The Latest

I really intended to pay more attention to this blog, but as you can see from the number of recent posts, I've been very slack, or perhaps just lazy.

So, where do I begin? Oh, well you know about the Lost Wishes EP,  right? It came out so perfectly, especially the artwork.  Kevin Beard runs Box Bedroom Rebels and did all the artwork for the EP. We went with a rainy-day-library theme because I liked the idea of having a sleeve inspired by something Belle &Sebastian might have done. Warren Fournier took the wonderful photographs. He has a website here that you might be interested in. I was happy with most of the songs. I'll be giving a track by track analysis of the EP in a future post. 

I'm actually very busy at the moment recording a brand new EP that should be available this Summer.  We've joined the roster at Oscarson Records out of Germany for this one. It's about half way completed. Musically it won't be much different than Lost Wishes and may contain some of the longest songs we've done so far.

Lost Wishes EP

I'm beyond thrilled to announce the release of our very first vinyl release, Lost Wishes. It's an 8-track micro LP which came out on Box Bedroom Rebels on Dec 13, 2014. A limited-edition release, it sold out in just 12 hours. Housed in a beautiful sleeve, the EP comes with a bunch of neat extras.

January Stars EP

I'm pleased to announce our latest EP, January Stars. It was released on Dufflecoat Records in the UK and can be ordered from them. The digital version can be ordered here.

It's a pretty big departure from Sunbathing/Stargazing. I recorded all the vocals in a hotel room.

New York City Popfest 2014-The Arcitc Flow's first show!

A dream finally came true last month as Aimee' and I flew to NYC to play in the NYC Popfest 2014. It was an amazing experience and one I'll never forget. It was cool to finally meet Chris from Jigsaw Records and Maz, who is the nicest person I've ever met. My set got cut short, but here is the list as best as I can remember:

Sunbathing/Stargzing EP

Sunbathing/Stargazing was released in December 2013 on Shiny Happy Records in Indonesia. It moves away from the dreampop of Dreams You'll Never Find to a more surf-pop sound. The beautiful cover is an orginal art work by Madoka Kumangai. The CDs are sold out everywhere, but you can download your copy here.

New EP-Dreams You'll Never Find

The latest EP is now available from Dufflecoat Records. It took nearly a year to make. I started recording songs for this EP in January 2012 and most of the songs were radically different from what eventually became the four songs on the EP. "Friends For Summer" started as a bosso-nova style song, while "Just Say Hello" was originally titled "Terrible Friend." It took nearly 12 months to record  because I sort of lost interest. I couldn't decide what style I wanted to have. I was nervous that no one would like it and I just kept second guessing myself. The more I did, the more depressed I became. I just knew I had to get it done before the end of the year and I just pushed and pushed until it came together at the last minute.
